Twiggles Birthday
It was Twiggles birthday and she purred with anticipation when she heard the familiar squeak of the front gate as the postman arrived to deliver the mail. There was a charming card from her neighbour Darcy which he had made for her. It had lovely differently coloured paw prints which he had made into the shape of flowers. He must have dipped his paw into an assortment of coloured inks to do it and she knew how much he hated wet paws, so it was very sweet of him. His twin sister Lizzie had also sent a card upon which was a picture of a fabulous bird of many colours soaring through a clear blue sky, Lizzie knew how much Twiggles wished that she could fly and that she would watch enviously a...

Twiggles the Birthday flight!
Well she had decided. She had already enjoyed the wonders of the countryside where she had lived, but only from the ground, despite her wonder of flying creatures, and so she would ask Fancy (the wonderful bird from Perpetua) who had promised to take her on an amazing flight and so it was to be a new adventure, not only to experience a flight on Fancy, but also go to a special land that Twiggles had never visited – Perpetua. This was the land where the magical bird Fancy came from and that must be very special. Twiggles left her message a week after her birthday as instructed to see if the dove returned with an answer. She was not too sure that any response would return it all seemed t...

Two Seeds
Two seeds sat side by side in a fertile flowerbed during springtime. The one seed was eager to grow and flower; its thoughts were filled with visions of itself pushing through the earth, sending out more shoots, drinking the dewdrops, blossoming and climbing high towards the sun. He wanted to embrace the whole Mother Earth, and thus, the seed started to grow! The second seed, on the other hand, was apprehensive about beginning the growing process. He thought to himself: “If I start to put down roots and my stems begin growing, I will get wet from the dewdrops, my leaves will be trampled by the birds and snails and butterflies will feed of me. When my flowers bloom, they will be pick...

Viper
Once upon a time in a town plentiful with tomatoes lived a young snake called Viper. She was born in the company of an evil brother called Danger. He had laser eyes and X-Ray specs so that he could steal gold from anywhere. One day Viper met a familiar looking snake and they had a fight. Viper slithered so fast around Danger that he couldn't see her and he got dizzy. Then Danger used his laser eyes but Viper was too lively. Danger began to use his X-Ray specs to see inside her. He realised she was too quick for him so he went home and she went home. They realised who they both were and Viper tried to get Danger away from her Dad. Her Dad's reaction was to get say "you are brother and sist...

What On Earth ?
I stepped back fearfully, feeling my way through the darkness. ‘IT’ crept closer. My eyes widened. My hairs stood on end. Sweat pouring down my forehead, I took another slow step back and to my horror felt the wall against my palms. I was trapped ! The creatures red eyes narrowed at me. I could feel its hot breath on my neck and saw its razor sharp claws glimmer as the moonlight caught them. I began to panik. I croaked out a note of terror and tried helplessly to run, but I was paralised in fear. ‘IT’ took another step forward. Feeling my way along the wall, I desperately tried to hit a light switch. Suddenly with a growl like thunder ‘IT’ leapt at me ! Grappling with it, I felt ...

White caps glimpsed through white clouds
Like clods of white earth the clouds flow in furrows above a wind whipped sea. Aloft, cocooned in our tube, we cannot feel the raw edge of nature below. How safe we feel; how beautiful it seems. We are just a glimpse to the ship struggling through the peaks and troughs below Like gods over our coffee, we absorb his whole world, just as background to our thoughts He may feel the danger but are we any safer ? Complacently sipping our drinks – at lunchtime – we float in our own little world. Waves do not move when you see them from above – as the ship shudders below. Cushioned by air – how fickle the flow sustained by our fires, cheating nature herself Apart from t...

Winter
Clouded with snow The cold winds blow, And shrill on leafless bough The robin with its burning breast Alone sings now. The rayless sun, Day’s journey done, Sheds its last ebbing light On fields in leagues of beauty spread Unearthly white. Thick draws the dark, And spark by spark, The frost-fires kindle, and soon Over that sea of frozen foam Floats the white moon.
