Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens

Many of you may have seen, at some time, a film or musical version or TV series of this book by Charles Dickens. None of them can compare with how his words can conjure up your own version of this story and paint a picture in your head of what it was like. Such colourful characters- Fagin and the Artful Dodger both pick-pockets one the teacher and one a super student.The descriptions of what Victorian London was like are amazing. If you do not know what the story is about it is about a boy called Oliver who endures a very sad life in a workhouse (where in those times orphaned people were sent) he was, as he got older sent to work for an undertaker- he escaped this unfortunate life and travelled to London where his adventures begin.. he was innocent and was be-friended and taken to the lair of the elderly criminal teacher called Fagin…
