Chameleon

A special class of lizard of which there are about 160 different species of varying colours, many have the wonderful ability to change their colour to blend in with their surroundings. They have protruding eyes which give them a large range of vision and they have very long tongues with which to catch insects and they are also well adapted for climbing. They prefer warm habitats and can be found in rain forests and even in deserts. Places such as Madagascar, Southern Europe and Southern Asia they may be found. They generally eat insects but some of the larger ones will eat smaller lizards and even young birds.
